Murray Walker OBE was one of the finest motorsport commentator and journalists the world will ever see.
He provided television commentary of live Formula One coverage for the BBC between 1976 and 1996, and for ITV between 1997 and 2001
Murray is one of the reasons so many across the world fell in love with formula one, his passion, enthusiasm and love for the sport was unmatched.
This painting is my tribute to the great man and features the logo of his beloved BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club) and also Damon Hill celebrating his Japanese Grand Prix victory which clinched him the 1996 Formula One Driver Championship. As he crossed the line Murray famously had to stop his commentary to regain his composure at the sight of his friend and Son of the late Graham Hill crossing the line.
Declaring “I’ve got to stop because I’ve got a lump in my throat”
A sentiment so many people can relate to when hearing the sad new on 13 March 2021 when we heard Murray had passed away.
